Long weekend trip to the Eastern Cape passes

(Friday 29th Oct to Monday 1st Nov 2021)

The Eastern Cape has some of the most spectacular passes and scenery in South Africa and the club is proposing to visit the area and drive as many passes as is reasonably possible over the Friday 22^nd to Monday 25^th October weekend.

We will stay at Alpine Swift Trails about 4km outside Rhodes with the intention of driving the major passes over the next few of days. Most of the passes, whilst dirt (mostly) are (or were!) in fair condition with the exception of the Bastervoetpad (Dr Lapa Munnik) pass. Whilst the days drives will be planned with the intention of driving the main passes it may be necessary to alter the trip and include or exclude passes according to conditions and group wishes.

Alpine Swift Trails https://alpineswifttrails.co.za/ has a number of accommodation options which have been tentatively reserved for the club – if other bookings come in we will need to make quick decisions so all who are interested are asked to register as soon as possible.

Costs are anticipated as follows:

This trip is dependant on there being sufficient numbers; if numbers are low, it may be cancelled or postponed to another date.

No deposits will be paid unless there is every likelihood of the trip going ahead.
