“DAY OF THE CLUBS: KZN 4X4 SOCIAL DAY” SATURDAY, 15 AUGUST 2015 KILLARNEY 4x4 Shongweni, Durban

Come and join us and help support and promote our club at this year's Day of the Clubs held down at Killarney 4x4. It is going to be spread over the whole weekend so if you would like to camp, please let us or the organizers at Killarney 4x4 know. Each club that will be attending will have to design and man a challenge for all the other clubs to attempt. Much like the Gates event we held recently.

The Midlands 4x4 club has submitted our challenge to the organizers and has been accepted. The design is a co-operative event between the driver and the co-driver.

For the first time ever, Killarney 4x4 hosted the “DAY OF THE CLUBS: KZN 4X4 SOCIAL DAY” last year on 16 August 2014.
The aim of this gathering was to offer a lekker social day to all the KZN 4x4 clubs and their members, family and friends to enjoy some fresh air and to de-stress from everyday life and to share their past off-road experiences.

Some people had loads of fun and met up with old school buddies which they have not seen in years! Some met up with old acquaintances and some people made new friends …

Due to its success last year and on KZN Club’s demand, we have decided to host this event every year in August. Last year was just a social gathering, but this year we would like to add some extra fun to the day, as one can only talk, eat and drink that much!

This year we would like to add some 4x4 off-road fun challenges.

We would like to involve all KZN 4x4 clubs to help make this day a fun one for all! We therefore would like to ask each club to create, setup and man at least one 4x4 obstacle challenge anywhere on the farm that all the various Clubs can take part in and the public members. The club will be responsible to supply all required items for the obstacle challenge.

Each club will also need to AT LEAST supply 1 or 2 Marshalls to man the obstacle challenge and to ensure the safety of the participants. Let your imagination run wild. Anything you can do with a 4x4, a driver and co-driver/s will work. Clubs are welcome to setup their club Gazebo’s at the Obstacle course and/or in the campsite area.

Assistance and machinery (TLB, Bobcat) can be provided if required and provided that your ideas will improve value to our farm’s trails and obstacles for the future benefit of yourselves off course. Deadline for Obstacle submission is before close of business on Friday, 30 July 2015.

The rules are simple….

1. The obstacle must be safe for all participants.

2. The whole family of all ages should be able to part take to join in the fun.

3. The Club will make the obstacle rules and everyone should obey them. Nothing too hectic please, as we do have ordinary families coming with their ordinary 4x4’s.

4. Point system will be provided once all ideas have been submitted. Please submit your scoring ideas for your obstacle so that we can incorporate this into the all over point system.

This year the “DAY OF THE CLUBS: KZN 4X4 SOCIAL DAY” will be a weekend event!

On Saturday, 15 August 2015 all clubs and their members will have the opportunity to setup their fun challenge obstacles for Sunday, 16 August 2015! Saturday evening all clubs can social and get to know each other around the fire pit, Campers welcome.  Remember to bring along your cooler box, braai gear and picnic baskets. There will be a Killarney Barn dance in the Lapa on Saturday evening, so remember to pack your dancing shoes! Hope all will be camping…. On Sunday Killarney 4x4 will provide a jumping Castle and invite a clown for some extra entertainment for the kids. The obstacle fun challenges will take place on Sunday and should start at 09:00am! Program and point system will be sent to Clubs once all obstacle ideas have been received.

We would also like to hand out some gifts to all participants, so some price ideas & sponsorship will be greatly appreciated. This is all about the fun of it, so anything hard, soft, sweet, cold or funny will do.

 

All Entrance fees charged will go towards event running cost:

R40.00 per Adult

R20.00 per child (Ages 5-12)

Under 5 – Free

Camping fee Special:

R50.00 per Adult per night sleeping

R25.00 per child per night sleeping (Ages 5-12)

There will be a security guard on duty for Friday and Saturday evening.

Killarney 4x4 will sell Breakfast, coffee and tea on Saturday and Sunday morning as well as Lunch and basic tuck shop items on both days. Shop Trading hours on Saturday: from 06:30am for the early birds and will close at 08:00pm for those who would like to buy dinner and on Sunday from 06:30am until 05:00pm. Please feel free to bring own Cooler box, breakfast, Picnic basket and Braai gear! Braai stands are available.
