Turtle Hatchings!

Please note this trip is FULL, other than Chalet H!

Guide: R160 per person per walk!

Permit: R55 per vehicle and R55 per person.

Please bring CASH for the above two costs.

 

We are going up to Bhanga Nek on the 8th to 10th February 2019 to hopefully see the Turtles hatch! We will leave PMB at 5am on Friday the 8th.

We will travel via Mbazwana and the Coastal Forest route. (Lake Sibaya, Mabibi, Manzengwenya, Black Rock, and Dog Point.)

We will need permits which we should be able to get at Manzengwenya. I will advise on costs etc. shortly! So take cash to pay when we get there.

We will be staying at the Beach Camp. Details below. Please advise which accommodation you would like and pay the appropriate amount into the clubs account ASAP.

The Beach Camp,  +-350m from the beach, and right on the lake shore and has campsites and all 6 chalets AVAILABLE for both weekends.  From here you walk or drive to the beach.

 

Campsite info: 

 - shady campsites in the lakeside forest, near to the lake shore

- hot water showers and flush toilets in shared ablution blocks

 - a generator until +- 9-10pm for lights only – no plug points

- no stove or fridge/freezer facilities.

- no pets allowed, please

Cost is R150 per adult per night, R75 for all children 12y and younger.

Chalet E + F  (two 4-sleepers): (Both taken)

-       1 bedroom, 4 single beds, linen provided, but I suggest that you bring your own pillows

-       own bathroom with hot water shower & flush toilet

-       big verandah with table & chairs

-       kitchen with crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, gas stove (no oven), gas freezer

-       simple braai area, but bring your own grid, please

Cost:  R1095 per unit per night

 

 

Chalet C + D (two 2-sleepers): (Both taken)

-       1 bedroom, 2 single beds, linen provided, but I suggest that you bring your own pillows

-       no bathroom, use communal ablution blocks

-       verandah with a cupboard

-       no kitchen but crockery and cutlery are supplied, but NO pots & pans, NO stove, NO fridge/freezer

-       no braai area, please bring your own braai equipment

Cost:   R540 per unit per night

 

 

Chalet G (2-sleeper): (Taken)

-       1 bedroom, 1 double bed, linen provided, but I suggest that you bring your own pillows

-       own bathroom with hot water shower & flush toilet

-       verandah with table & chairs

-       kitchen with crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, HAS gas stove (no oven), HAS fridge-freezer (smaller freezer section)

-       simple braai area (not private), but bring your own grid, please

Cost:   R690 per unit per night

 

 

Chalet H (2-sleeper):

-       1 bedroom, 1 double bed, linen provided, but I suggest that you bring your own pillows

-       no bathroom, use communal ablution blocks

-       verandah with table & chairs

-       kitchen with crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, gas stove (no oven), NO fridge/freezer

-       no braai area, please bring your own braai equipment

Cost:  R640 per unit per night

- please bring enough torches/lamps/battery powered lights with you for working in the chalets’ kitchens, as the reeded structures are by nature dark, even during the day, and night-time lighting from the generator is good but not bright.

Please note for all camps:

- no pets allowed

- bring enough torches & use a torch & wear shoes when moving around area at night

- access strictly by 4x4 – the last +- 28km of “road” is over soft sand tracks

- bring your own drinking water

- the nearest shops are +- 28km away over soft sand tracks, so be sure to bring all your provisions with you. There is a little spaza shop nearby where basic basics (salt, sugar and so on are available, but no meat & fresh products).

- the facilities are basic and rustic – at Bhanga Nek there are no luxuries, no bright shiny bathrooms or kitchens; some of the facilities will be found to need some maintenance, but all the camps have what we need to have a back-to-our-roots experience in an absolutely unique place. The setting is the luxury!
