We are looking to organise a trip to Swaziland from the 27th April 2017 to the 1st May 2017. We will travel to Swaziland on Thursday 27th and meet up with our guide at our first nights accommodation. We will start the trip proper the next morning after breakfast. The Trip will be 3 days driving. Our last night will be the 30th April. We will then travel back home on Monday 1st May.

At this point accommodation will be self catering camping!. Should we be able to arrange more we will advise accordingly.

There will be a limit of 10 vehicles (20 people) due to availability of accommodation and control of the convoy on the route.

At this stage the cost of accommodation and the trip is estimated at R2000 per person. This number may change depending on the numbers and confirmation of accommodation etc.

We need to get an idea of who would like to join us on this trip so that we can finalise plans etc.

Please register ASAP.

BELOW IS A DESCRIPTION OF THE ORIGINAL TRAIL. It will differ slightly due to some places being closed etc.

THE OLD IRON TRAIL SWAZILAND
Summary:
- 3 Day / 4 Night Guided 4x4 Tour (plus 2 days getting there and back)
- Self catering
– Approx. distance 170km
– Grade 2-4
– Vehicle requirements : Low Range, diff-lock, decent ground clearance.
Description:
Stretching from Malolotja to the Ngwempisi Wilderness area the trail roughly follows
the old railway line that used to transport iron ore from the Ngwenya mine to
Matsapha from where it would get sent to Maputo. The railway line became
redundant when the mine closed in 1979 and was lifted in 1980.
For the rest of the trail we travel on old ox-wagon trails and very old forest roads.
The trail passes through very scenic of which large parts are closed to the public and
can only be experienced by going on this tour.
This is an exciting and challenging trail that promises dramatic changes in scenery
and terrain and let you experience Swaziland from a different perspective than your
average tourists who pass through on main routes.
The first nights' accommodation consists of a very beautiful campsite where
everybody provides their own tent. The second night is spent at Ezulwini . The Third night is spent at Khopo camp
which is a bush camp high in the mountains.
Because of the remoteness of the camps, there is NO electricity. There is however hot water at all the camps.
